Scapelli21
the gain isn't a volume knob! i know it isnt a volume knob, i was simply asking if it were feasible (sp?) to turn it up anymore or simply stay where i am at and enjoy. people who respond the way u did dont help. the gain DOES control the amount of bass...i was simply wondering if it sounded like i am at the peak for the amp? i dont have a DMM or access to an o-scope right now and i cant really tell when the sub starts distorting, thats just me. i was just looking for some semi-educated guesses and/or personal experience perhaps. not tryin to bash u in any way emat, i dont know u so i cant. Torres
i wouldnt push it till you can get ahold of a DMM and set it right. you say money is tight so i'd low ball till you can spare a little cash to get one. beats having to buy new gear
Scapelli21
ok, i just got another dmm and tried to set it but it wouldnt read. i turned the gain all the way up and the meter just kept beeping. i have it set to the right setting according its read-out. also, could i just stick the connectors onto the posts or actually in the outputs where the wire goes? and do i use a connector on each post or just stick both on pos. or neg.? i know what voltage to set the amp at, just wondering why i wouldnt get a read out. Bass4Lyfe
you should unhook the sub and play a 40 or 50 hz test tone, then just stick the votl meter wires (plus or minus doesn't matter) into the speaker outputs on the amplifier. i wouldnt' turn the gain all the way up ... if your DMM isn't reading than make sure it's set on the correct AC voltage. for example, the DMM i use has different "sensitivity" settings aka 20 volts, 200 volts, etc. makle sure if you want an output voltage of say 30 amps it's set on the 200 volts. does that make sense? hope this helps Edited August 4, 2008 by Bass4Lyfe Quote ~Matthew 1998 Toyota Camry XLE V6 3L (1) ScyTek Astra 4000RS-2W-1 2-Way Remote Start Alarm with Shock and Proximity (1) 20% Tint All Around (Gately Audio) (1) 250 Amperage HO Alternator (1) Big 3 Done In 1/0 (2) Kinetik HC2400 Power Cell (1) Alpine IVA-D106 Receiver (1) Peripheral Video Bypass Device (4) Alpine SPS-17C2 Speakers (1) Alpine KCE-422i iPod Control Interface (4) Sheets Dynamat Extreme; for speakers (1) 10 Square Feet Hushmat (Trunk & Rear Deck) (4) DC Audio Level 4 15" D2 Subwoofer w/ Level 5 Coils (1) Wall Built By David, Tuned to 32 Hz (1) Rockford Fosgate T40001bd Amplifier (1) Stinger 1/0 Wiring (2 runs of + 2 runs of -) (1) Stinger Volt Meter
