David
yeah you over excurted the sub, thats a mechanical failure due to the box being to big with that much power. try 6 cubes after displacemet with 3kws

Boon
Nope, it's fucked. In the other thread it was just the spider coming away from the neck joint, what you have there is the entire cone breaking off the former. If you HAVE to do a temporary fix, try this: 1. Glue that broken joint as well as you can from underneath 2. After that glue has set a bit (enough to seal the gap) pop the dustcap off. 3. (Optional) Get some nylon cord and run it around the V where the cone meets the former (I hope for your sake that the former extends plenty above the cone on those woofers) 4. Lay a FAT bead of CA glue in the bottom of the V between the former and cone. If you used the cord you want to just about drown the cord in glue. It'll take quite a bit of it. If you can find the instructions on how to replace the coil on a DD99 series subwoofer it'll give you a good idea of what I'm talking about. This is only a very temporary fix though. Your coil will probably end up misaligned and rub on the motor at high excursion due to the very small gap in these motors. Eventually it'll wear through the enamel on the coil and then short out on the motor or just break the voice coil. Otherwise it may all just come away again. You need to sort out your box. Krice420
dang man thats shitty you gotta be careful with that much power and a box that big. It doesnt take much for those subs to come up out of that box and break. Applejack
i say just send it back to FI man, that way it get's done correct and you don't have to live in fear, and just rebuild the box from the way it sounds. lazeris
Dont mean to thread jack but I have a 7 cuft box at 34 hz and was planning on getting a BTL 18 and throw it on a US Amps AX3200DE at 1ohm. Is this a bad idea? I will not be changing the box, should I just a DC Lvl5?
David
I would be carefull with it, your pretty knowledgable guy from what I ahve seen, I think you will be ok, because you know when to back off of it and all that good stuff
Krice420
its not the sub thats causing the problem is all in the enclosure. an enclosure that big allows alot of airflow and therefore more excursion. i would suggest dropping down to maybe 6cubes or set your gain conservatively until you figure out the limits of your system.
