MTX J30 Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 i have two mtx subs that can handle 500 watts total power. what kind of amp should i get. how many watts rms do you think each sub can handle should i get a 700 watt amp and put 350 watts to each sub or would that be too much or could i even do 400 watts to each b/c it is a jackhammer. i have a 200 watt amp but i think im just gonna use that for some 6 by 9s. Once or twice I have missed having a back seat / rear hatch, but all in all people love to see a walled vehcile. It just screams "i'm not fucking around with my setup, im loud"

Eskii Posted August 23, 2008 Report Posted August 23, 2008 Well get the right sized amp to power some high and mid that'll keep up with your subs. My rule of thumb is put around 1/7th of the power of your subs into you components. So if you're gonna run 500wRMS of subs, look at bout a 70wRMS pair of components. But then again if you're gonna spend a bit, you'll obvioulsy look at having more that just one mid and one high for each channel... DUBIE Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 you will be fine with a 600-700 watt amp...i had a (12)mtx 4500..and i didnt have any problems..the sub didnt get fucked up or anything...actually it pound for having only 600 watts..and i know the mtx 4500 could only take 250-300 watts..i think..i dont really remember...but yea.i had it on that amp for like almost 1 year...so..like i said..600-700 watt amp would be good..
