droopy89
Well, i just got offered a job, doing the same thing pretty much but a little more laidback, still in autoparts, but this one is working out of a warehouse, very little walk-in customers, mainly commercial companies are delt with there. They said id start at $8.25 an hour, big bucks lol , but its a good 12 mile drive each way so. 12 miles aint that bad, but its right next to the busiest (sp) shopping center in the area, and it pretty much constantly packed with traffic. Im makin 7.42 an hour now working at O'Reillys and i can get to the store in 5 minutes from my house, a 2 mile drive. Good hours, pretty easy going, but the managers can be bitches, no the store managers but like our regional managers can give you the run around for months on end. O yea, the new truck, gets decent mileage bout 18-20 highway, which is what the new job would be driving there and back. Its a toss-up for me really, people are telling me yes and others no. Any suggestions or advice? Quote 1997 S10 EC Whats in it 106.9 Sq.ft. Hushmat DB Elec. 250 amp alt. Bass4Lyfe
if you think your current job wont get you anywhere - no way to go "up" on the ladder, maybe go for the other job? you get paid more and maybe can get a raise or promotion the drive isn't that big of a deal, IMHO, but thats because I like driving ... RamenNoodles
I would honestly stay there. It looks better to have one or two jobs that you have worked at for a good amount of time instead of a bunch of different jobs that you only stayed at for a few months. Shows commitment and whatnot. Not to mention you will have to allot at least 20 minutes more out of your day to and from each way because of the traffic. droopy89
Not to mention you will have to allot at least 20 minutes more out of your day to and from each way because of the traffic. thats what i was thinking, i mean i just got a promotion and the raise, and my one year evaluation is in the next couple weeks, the other company was kinda sorta begging me to start working for them. but dam,, almost an hour of driving a day, thats time i could be working on my system so i can do a :hairtrick: ,, NOT Quote 1997 S10 EC Whats in it 106.9 Sq.ft. aquill1
Ask some people working at the warehouse how they like it. Personally I like dealing with people and probably wouldn't want to be in a warehouse setting with repetitive work, it can get boring. Another question you have to ask is how long have you worked at o'reillys? Have you gone up in pay at all? Do you think you will? If not go to the other job and work your butt off and in 90 days get a raise-hopefully!
droopy89
Thats another thing, back last Sept. when i started, i was at 7 an hour, then at my 90 day eval. i got a 2% raise, bringing me to 7.14, and i just got another promotion which was a 4% raise, now im at 7.42 an hour, and im hoping my manager can get me another 2 or 3 % at my one year eval At the job offer, they have yearly evals. theirs is in March, and their biggest raise is a quarter so,, money wise, it can kinda go either way Quote 1997 S10 EC Whats in it 106.9 Sq.ft. 77-AUDIO
sometimes if you are good at what you do its best to leave so when they figure out how good you are and that people start missing you that they will either call you back or might ask you to stay so you dont have to leave and wait. I did leave my current job for another for 50% more in pay. (about $10.00 more an hour) and then they (old job) called me back and gave me a raise from what i was making at the other company. so within 6 months i got a pay increase of over 55% only thing that stinks is the 3.5% anual raise. not telling you to leave but something make you looktill that problem is gone you are never going to be happy there.
