dunkoholic
Make the box a little bigger anyway you can... maybe widen it up a little.... If you can get the volume or dimensions of the current box, myself and many others on here will be more than happy to give you a bit more direction on your ports and total box volume. I still want a little bit of trunk though for groceries u know!! so that 30x21x14 is really as big as i want to go... i was just thinking of getting a different speaker that suits that dimension.. what do you recommend? pstone11
Well, don't give up hope already... Keep tweeking with it and see what happens. If you decide to do a rebuild be sure to let us know so we can give you good dimensions and port size... If you're really looking to stray from the L7's, look into a single, high powered 15, maybe a DC level 4.... that would sure play nice in that ammount of airspace. Check out StoneSounds to see my recent builds.Or look at the Flying White Facebook Page!
dunkoholic
Cool, I'll play with it a little more and see what happens! DROCH CUSTOMS
I still want a little bit of trunk though for groceries u know!! so that 30x21x14 is really as big as i want to go... i was just thinking of getting a different speaker that suits that dimension.. what do you recommend? I think you're losing a lot of bass with the woofers facing forward the way you have them. I would estimate that you're losing about 20% of your bass which is getting lost in the trunk behind the box. I'm sure you can't turn your box around with the ports already mounted but from experience, there's a really good chance you're losing bass facing forward. Also, that size of box would've been good for 1 L7 woofer. L7's have never really been known to drop the deep note so putting 2 of them in a tight box isn't helping anything. I would try 1 good 12" or 1 good 15" woofer tuned to 32-35hz and if done correctly you should notice a big difference...

It's still in the experimenting phase so i can still turn the speaker around or flip the box around and see what happens... I really want two twelves though.. how much bigger or longer are we talking here? I can't get any wider cause then i wouldn't be able to put the box through the trunk.. JMC0415
If you sealed off the trunk from the front and fired the subs forward you get louder.

dunkoholic
Well, i had 2 12's cvr laying around in my garage and i decided to try them on and let me tell ya, it hit way louder than the L7's... Also, noticed I flip the speaker around facing the trunk again per (DROCH CUSTOMS and JMC0415) Thanks fellows!! Now, I'm planning on adding two more, so i'm gonna try this fiberglassing stuff.. The cvr's are temporary though, I'm planning on running 4 type r's cause they require a little smaller box versus the cvr so it might even sound louder and better... What do you guys think? We''ll here's recent pix of my project... Also, if anyone have some photoshop skills fell free to mess around on how i should lay the other 2 speakers...
