reinke
the d16z6 in my honda peggs the temp gauge. i have been told it is the termostat, the headgasket and the relay for the fans because they are not turning on when the gauge gets hot. what the hell could it be? i need to figure this out so i can sell the car. the guys who wants it is 5 hours away and wants to know which one. if i do sell this its new build of the truck time. :hairtrick: Quote ----reference's---- meade916
BackYardSoundZ
Do your fans turn on? If not it could be a bad relay, coolant temp switch or fan motor. (Hot wire it to test the motor) If they do turn on then your thermostat is probaly stuck. Your headgasket can make your car do this to but you will most likely be able to tell because of the loss of compression in your motor, you will have no power at all basically. (And be leaking coolant) Edited August 31, 2008 by BackYardSoundZ
Sampsonite
Definately check the coolant temp sensor. I would replace the thermostat anyways, its only like 5 bucks and can be installed in less than 10 minutes. Probably not the head gasket, if it doesn't smoke alot, isn't hesitatant(sp) or doesn't have anything liquid coming out of the exhaust Does it cool down at high RPMs? reinke
fans do not turn on. power production is down only a little but the plugs are shot it pours out white smoke the only liquid coming out of the exhaust is oil and carbon Quote ----reference's---- meade916
BackYardSoundZ
Hot wire the fan to see if the motor is still good, if it is then i would replace the cts/t-stat, both cheap and easy.
