Nightshade
Is there anyway that the power and ground wires were accidently in the wrong terminals? I've actually done that before with a Rockford 1100a2 and it started sparking and smoking as soon as I turned the car on to play music. I quickly shut the car off and went to look at the problem and saw that I mistakingly had the wires crossed. Anyway I unhooked it and prayed that it would work and it did. The amp never had another problem for more than a year. Wouldn't you know though after I sold it the guy who had it in his crx ended up blowing it after about 4 months of complete abuse. He had it wired down to a half ohm, and constantly beat the piss out of 4 15's all day every day. I'm sure that's why it ended up failing since the reccomended rating was at 2 ohms. But the point of the story is maybe by chance you mixed the wires up, and maybe it will still work if you try it out. It's just an idea. Mellow18
That'll just make it smoke more. Sounds like the power supply is burnt.Consider sending it to www.db-r.com (website might be down at the moment due to hurricane?) how are www.db-r.com repair prices compared to the usa website?they want about 250 for an amp over 2000 watts Quote 2001 Black Monte Carlo SS chrome 20'' (1) Alpine i-9881 deck-ipod- (2) DC lvl 4XL 18''s-Walled- (1) DAT Hellfire - 2500.1-fused- (1) D3400 XS Power battery-fused- (2) CDT 6.5 comp (X) pioneer 6x9 set (1) RF T-400.4 (1) DC POWER ALT INSTALLED BY ROB FTW,Big3 (1) Viper 5901 Alarm + killer yorkies and chihuahas [EdgarCervantes] 4:31 pm: im in my room and out of nowere i hear bass im like oh shit sombody has bass in this city, i look out the window and its my mom bumping Gorilla Zoe
Boon
how are www.db-r.com repair prices compared to the usa website?they want about 250 for an amp over 2000 watts They're pretty good. You get what you pay for and they're good repairs. But your blown up PPI doesn't make 2000w. It makes about 400. But at the same time if you did what I said in the other thread (0.4 ohms per channel) it's probably so fucked it'll need hundreds of dollars of parts anyway. Probably a paperweight now.
