MrNC
Hi, I have 2 15" 08 BTL's and im about to build my first ported box and i would like to know will this box work 46Wx24Hx26D i will be using a L shape port which will be 9"W x 22.5H" x PL1 16.25" x PL2 8". I think its about 14cuft before port and sub displacement. Do you guys think this will be a good box for these subs its going be powered by a Hifonics XX maxximus, I will be doing the big 3 as soon as i get my truck back its a 99 GMC suburban and i will be leaving the 3rd row in Edited September 23, 2008 by MrNC

01xtreme
Be careful putting that much power to them. You are going to be looking at about 10cf or so after displacement, port and bracing. that is still pretty large for subs you're wanting to put 10krms on. Generally a smaller-ish enclosure and port area will increase your subs ability to handle power, but that is still a shit ton of power you're going to be putting to them. Boon
how much smaller should i make it... on the FI page it says 3-5cuft per sub How did you get 14 cubes before displacement from 3-5 cuft per? Considering you're giving them a massive whack of power you want to be right down by the minimum box size. I take it you havent seen the 2 or 3 threads on here where people's BTLs snap at the neck joint... Make it like 8 cubes before? That's a huge ass port as well... EDIT: Just as an aside, you've never built a ported box and you have 2 15" BTLs and a Maxximus??? The saying 'all the gear but no idea' comes to mind... Quote 10.x volts fo' life! MrNC
I'm not gonna be giving it the full 10k the amp will be turned down, i was gonna order 2 more BTL's but the time it will take to get here in Germany i will be in Iraq already so im just gonna run the 2 i have. Mr. Boon i went with 14cubes cause i knew after sub, bracing, double baffle, and port displacement that it will drop, yesterday some guy gave me a re website to go to and after port displacement it put me at 9.674cubes and thats not including sub displacemt, bracing, or the second baffle. and its tune to 33hz
MrNC
Also Mr boon i seen your thread where you was talking about my install and it was funny i never said i didnt know anything about car audio i just said that i have never built a ported box before, and they are 15's not 18's. also i never said i will be giving it the full 10k, and nobody knows everything ok some people come here to learn im sure you was not the best when you started and your probably still far from great so dont put down other ppl ok. Thank You

Decaf
extra baffle takes up .395cuft bracing ~.15cuft subs .42cuft ___________ 1cuft displacement not accounted for so to have a tuning of 31hz u need to increase the box size 1cuft tuning including displacement is 33.4hz actual cuft is ~7.1cuft Edited September 23, 2008 by decafcappucino
