MXmike800 Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 I have 3 type r 12 (4) ohm dvc. Below is RF wiring wizard and how i have them wired up to my amplifier. these are the specs on my jbl 1201.1 amp GTO1201.1 • 787W RMS x 1 channel at 4 ohms and ≤1% THD + N • Signal-to-noise ratio: 70dBA (reference 1W into 4 ohms) • 1114W RMS x 1 channel at 2 ohms, 14.4V supply and ≤1% THD + N • Dynamic power: 1339W at 2 ohms • Effective damping factor: 6.348 at 4 ohms • Frequency response: 10Hz – 302Hz (–3dB) • Maximum input signal: 6.1V • Maximum sensitivity: 140mV • Output regulation: .14dB at 4 ohms • Dimensions (L x W x H): 18-11/16" x 12-5/16" x 2-3/8" so i have my type r wired to a 2 ohm load. what im trying to understand is am i underpowering them? Alpine rates them at 500 rms 1500 max. im planning on buying another type r 12 should i buy another jbl amp and run 2 per amp or will this amp push all 4.
newls1 Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 you currently feeding each 12 278.5watts, so YES, you are under powering them by 50% almost. I would of course buy another JBL amp and power 2 12"s per amp. However, you said your suns are D4's, if you wire 2 12 D4's you can only get a 1OHM, or 4OHM load, and you need to be @ 2ohm to get max RMS power. Personally I would ditch the JBL amp, and go for 1 monster amp that will give you 2000+RMS power @ 2OHM's (As this is the ohm load you will be at with 4 D4's subs wired correctly.) I love my staffie So anti FACEBOOK it isn't even funny
Boon Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 Sell the JBL and get a Stetsom or a Kicker 2500 10.x volts fo' life!
