Box Tuning Help

ok im looking at the specs for my audiobahn immortal series 12 and it says for an everyday box i should tune it to 40hz. idk if that is actualy a good frequency to tune it to. it says that the sub will respond to 23 - 700 hz. it gives me box volume and whatnot. and port length and diameter. and i was wondering if i should go with what the book says. im rebuilding my box so it will be tuned. the last box i built i just built and didnt worry about it. these are the specs the book gives me:

air space 2.1

port size (2) 4 x 15

port volume% 11.18

tune freq 40

sub disp 0.4

port disp 0.25

total volume 3

any help would be apreciated. im trying to design the box and mark out the wood for it tonight. sub up port back :hairtrick:

comeon i just need to know if i should build it to play at 40 hz or build it to play lower lets say at like 33 to 35?

If they say 40 Hz tune it to 40 and see how you like it... its all on personal preferance...if you need it lower.. then you could always make another.. I would go lower tho.. 35 prolly

IMO tuning to 40Hz daily would sound like ass. I'd suggest between 32-35Hz for daily.

yeah i thought 40 would sound like ass myself too. i thought it was wayyyyy too high to go. i beleive ill tune it to like 33 hz

id go bigger on the box and alot more port those 12s wont like a small enclosure.tune it down to 35 .40 is gonna be louder,but for some good daily sound it wont play well.
