alvitae
I have my small amp set up about the same way except my gain is a lot lower than yours. I read that the gain is for matching the h/u's voltage to the amp. Since my h/u puts out 2 volts I have my gain set at 2 volts.
wL<3bass
i am trying to get the most out of my small amp and was wondering the best setting? wat do you set your stuff to?the bass is set at 0 on the h/u the gain is like 3/4 the way up the bass boost is on 0 and the lpf i think is around 80 hz Where the knob is positioned mean absolutley NOTHING to us....your gain is an adjustment to compensate for headunits that have varying output voltages.... You take a dmm look up the RMS your trying to get off an RMS chart yurn your knob til it reads the proper voltage (AC) at a specific ohm using a 50hz sine wave, once you have done that use an oscilloscope and check for clipping. edit: Heres a tutorial JL made its pretty helpful if you don't know what you are doing.....Oh yeah and if this is for your full range speakers (ex. coaxials, components, aka door speakers. Use a 1khz/1,000hz sine wave and a 50hz for subs) Click for tutorial! Boon
Bring the LPF up a bit. When you're lacking power you can often make up for it a little (acoustically, means nothing to a meter) by letting the subs play a bit higher. 10.x volts fo' life!
