The are many schools that teach installation and offer MECP certification. I went to Mobile Dynamics in Toronto. There is also the Installer Institute, RTTI which is Rockford Technical Training Institute. and Mobile Tech and a few others I cant think of right now Quote Ed Lester ShowtimeSPL Host Showtime Electronics Video MarketingMy old Build Loghttp://www.stevemead...08/#entry511451http://www.youtube.com/showtimespl 5 time dB Drag Finalist Last ride 2007 HHR, current dB 153.5 and bass race 149.4 dB. 153.0 dB on music New Ride, 2008 HHR SS. kylecm85
well i can try to help u out a little. I went to an audio school and am mecp certified. The thing is you are not going to just come out of school and be a pro i have been installing profesionally for about 3 years and still learn new things every day. Some schools will help u with job placement but u might want to go talk to a few shops and see if they will be looking for installers after you get out of school. I waited about 4 months after i got back to finally got a job. But i will tell u it is a lot diffrent doing it for fun and doing it profesionally. But is a fun and mostly rewarding job. There will be days you will not want to look at a car and others where u can not wait to get back to work. But hope this helps a little and if u have any other questions let me know. HHR Ed
i thought RTTI was just selling rockford products?? Nah, they run a school like Installer institute. there are a few courses at each school depending on the area you want to go into. Like apholstery, body work, electronics, fabrication, box design. Thing is, once you get a job, it'll be different. I have been installing for 13 years or so and rarely use what I learned in school, I only get to use those skills for my own projects. This wont be the case if you can get a job in a high end full service custom shop. But thats hard since they usually want multi years of experience with little pay.
