MikeJ Posted December 7, 2008 Report Posted December 7, 2008 First my set right now is 2 RE audio SE 15 wired to 1ohm run by US amps MD2D, 6.2 cuft 1.25" MDF ported box, stock alt, stock battery. With that said my problem is when volume turned up the both subs make this vibration noise, could it be from the fact that my voltage drops down to 10.5 volts? I know not good. They only start making the noise when the voltage starts dropping low. I do have one Kinetics battery on the way and will be putting at least 3 of them in. The subs are not blown they move hard but make some noise? Any help would be great.
treossi Posted December 7, 2008 Report Posted December 7, 2008 my sub makes some noise when i turn it up too, but i know it's a leak, i cut the sub hole a hair too big, probably not the same as your problem? Zade08 Posted December 7, 2008 Report Posted December 7, 2008 I had kind of a hissing/scratching noise on my l7s. Thought I fried the coils but put them on another amp. Come to find out my amp had a bad solder and was gounding out somewhere sending a shitty noise thrugh the signal processor. Maybe its the amp. Try swapping it with another and see if it persists. If so then try each individual sub. Process of elimination is your best friend when trying to diagnose stereo problems. Vehicle: 2001 Ford Escape Head Unit: Kenwood Kdc-x592 All out for a rebuild. New shit coming in the next 30 days.
Boon Posted December 7, 2008 Report Posted December 7, 2008 What you're hearing is probably the sound of clipping. Fix your voltage and I'll bet it goes away. In the mean time, turn your gain down. 10.x volts fo' life!
MikeJ Posted December 8, 2008 Author Report Posted December 8, 2008 So I just got done running my 1/0 gauge wire for the US amps MD2D, had it run through a dist. block off my 4 gauge wire that I run my mids and highs off of. Now with it on its own 1/0 wire and with a better battery in the back no more "noise". Should be really good when I get those Kinetics installed. Thanks
Toxiccasper Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 voltage was just dropping and you were giving it clipped signal
MikeJ Posted December 8, 2008 Author Report Posted December 8, 2008 Clipping is what I thought the "noise" was, glad to hear thats what it was, but is gone now I never have had an amp that pulls that much power before.
