Lol. I wouldnt wall socket it unless your drunk with your buddies and intend on usingthe sub as a paper weight. lol. They could tell that your sub was connected to a 110 wall socket and not an amp. But I would call them and see if they warrant it. If not buy a new sub or have fun with that one. Buying the recone kit from kicker or a 3rd party and trying to rebuild it yourself as a learning experience isnt realy a bad idea.

called them. they said i purchased the sub for $139 which is true and they would not fix it, simply reimburse me the money. I would have to pay to ship it back, and they would not reimburse my original shipping charge or the warranty charge.

fuck them. just went on there website and looked into and they should fix it under there 'carry in service' warranty

mom gets home from work in probably an hour, and she's really smart in dealing with company's and getting what we need, it is covered under that warranty, and she'll make sure they deal with it. hate sounding like an asshole like that lol, ima nice kid, but i purchased the warranty for it to be fixed incase something like this happens, and they wont reimburse the warranty cost, or shipping.

i think ima talk to my mom to lend me a lil money to pick up my DC's and buy the new amp while i sell my current stuff

Ya. I think even you paying shipping there and return would be fair for them to repair the sub. But after waiting for them to send it off get it repaired send it back and all that head ache Id just want to move on and count my losses unless you can get them to refund the warranty difference you paid. This is why I either buy from the authorized people or just go fleabay on it and take a chance with it. 1 or the other no inbetween for me. Third party warranties are bullshit in my opinion so I never expect them to hold up. Goodl uck gettin your mom to break you off with that bread man. ;-)

ha exactly, i did the same shit, worked like 60 hr work weeks alllll summer, bought all my stuff did my thang, started college, blew that shit faster than i could count to 10 and quickly asked where all mah money went haha

my 12" L7 had almost the same issue except when i press down in certain areas the sub just stops working..turns out that i blew the sub cuz i didnt let it break in long enough. Still have the sub in the garage..maybe ill try reconing it

I have never in my life seen a warped coil, never heard of one either

if anyone has a picture of this, I wouldn't mind seeing it.

Ive seen them bottom out, and smash against back plates, windings come unglued to excessive heat, and unwind inside the gap, former smash, and crumble up like a soda can, motor top plate shift and pinch the coil, freezing the cone, and debris getting caught in the gap due to magnetism, glue beads at the triple joint break, but never a warped coil

unless a Kapton former is used, plastic can heat up and mold itself, even though Kapton is designed not to do that

The sound now, after it being described well sounds like a slinky, when you press on the cone, it will sound like wire kind of compressing, and releasing, like a old burned spring

If so, thats considered Manufacturer defect- VC glue failing covered under just about any companies warranty

IMO it's not under warranty, it sounds like you cooked it either by clipping it or running too much power to it for too long. I believe you said somewhere you sometimes run it until you can smell the coils before you back it down... for that to happen the coil has to be getting SERIOUSLY hot and if they take 1 look at the coil/former they're going to know that it wasn't a manufacturing fault that caused it to fail.

Up to you if you want to try though... just saying you risk being even more out of pocket after you ship it to them only to get a call saying uh, you killed it, no warranty.
