Stabilizing At Idle Voltage

When I am at idle my voltage fluctuates a lot from 12.4 volts to 14.4~ depending on what I am listening to. What I have done is in my sig, but the question I am wondering is if I get a D3100 and put it in the back of my car will it help stabilize my voltage better when my amps need it? I know it wont fix the problem when I am pounding away at idle for 10 mins or more I just need it long enough for the alternator to realize what is happening. It seems when I am listening to a song that has a bass note that hits every 5 seconds or so it fluctuates a lot, the MLA module and Alt kick in and bring the voltage up and then calm down and repeat the process so its doing 14.4 to 12.8 to 13.9 to 12.8 to 14.4 in a matter of seconds. I hope I am making sense, just need something to keep my voltage maintained a tad bit higher for longer so my lights aren't dimming like crazy before my car can produce the power. This mostly happens on songs that have those bass notes every so many seconds, if its a constant bass note like Thug Motivation 101 it will only do it at first and the alternator will stabilize the voltage. What do you guys think? Thanks in advance.

Sorry, the more I think of it, this happens on the freeway too... just notice it a lot more when I am stopped at a red light.

That's what I was thinking, just wanted to make sure by throwing in another battery would help with the dips in voltage when the alt isn't producing at that second.

x2, more batt's will slow the voltage drop and will add more reserve power.

First issue is 10 min or longer demos or burps , this will use up all battery storage in less that a min or two so your alt is having to run the car and the free for all audio levels. Electrical always has limits. When you put a load on things it needs to adjust under the conditions its being ran. Storage is a must but if you do long full tilt runs storage will run low regardless.

Their is now way to safely get a solid constant never fluctuating voltage reading without burning something up. Seeing .8 to a full volt difference from load demand transfer is not an issue its healthy. Newer GM vehicles are seeing any where from 12.5v to 15.3v bone stock flucuation.

Our modules give and receive signals and if it sees low voltage or drops in voltage then the module will try to anticipate and or compensate for the load. Which then has to be maintained by the alternator itself. Your system is running normal sounds like to me.

the powermaster xs spl alternators are supposed to be really fast in responding, or so they claim, i was considering using one in a future dual alternator build, but they are not recommend for daily. but if it really does respond instantly like they say it should help stabilize between the notes.

those pm alts are made only for spl cars they will not take daily drivering no way you could make your idea work with that alt
