MTX J30 Posted December 24, 2008 Report Posted December 24, 2008 these are just some questions ive had since i joined this site. why does it depend on the build how much a sub can handle. like only good installers can have a fi handle 4k watts. whats a bandpass box and how come people dont use it more often if it gains more dbs. how come the bigger the box the louder it is but when you get to a certain point its to big. i have more questions i can think of right now Once or twice I have missed having a back seat / rear hatch, but all in all people love to see a walled vehcile. It just screams "i'm not fucking around with my setup, im loud"

Too big of a box will cause to much excursion=bad. Bandpass boxes are kinda tricky to build, plus most of them are larger then people want to use. You will get better sound out put with a big box and low power. I believe they tend to be more efficient. If you build it, db's will come... Noob_On_Droid Posted December 24, 2008 Report Posted December 24, 2008 Bandpass boxes can be louder, but it plays less frequencies than sealed or ported. And as mentioned they are pretty big
pstone11 Posted December 24, 2008 Report Posted December 24, 2008 why does it depend on the build how much a sub can handle. like only good installers can have a fi handle 4k watts. Not good installers...... You just have to have a bit of common sense, listen to good advice, some patience, basic woodworking skills.... Most people who fail at builds are lacking in one or more of these categories... (normally more than 1)... Check out StoneSounds to see my recent builds.Or look at the Flying White Facebook Page!
Guest Posted December 24, 2008 Report Posted December 24, 2008 iirc, bandpass boxes can only play well between 2 specific frequencies, ex: 40hz and 80hz.
