Burping A System

Recommended Posts

I wanna learn to burp. i wanna get a dd2512a 12" woofer rated @ 750 watts and burp it @ 2500 watts at 2 Ohms with my kicker zx2500.1 . I know i am going to need to learn a lot before i can actually do this. I know i wanna tune it around 63-67 Hz probably @ a 2 cube box. Now I have no idea where do start with a aero port box. can any one help me or guide me in the right direction thank you.

I am a complete noob to this.

Im trying to do something like this

(not draw to scale)

dd2512v10.jpg

i will be purchasing a Craftsman Digital Clamp-On Ammeter

for figuring my impedance rise.

next question is, when i wanna burp do i roll in with the volume to max or just play the the test tone at full power?

I know the TL takes 3 seconds i believe to read the SPL

Why do you wanna tune it that high? What kind of car? Thats a tuning frequency for walls and CRXs

Thats alot of power for that sub. Chances are that it will blow.

A burp is simple, you just hit the un pause button at full volume on your selected track.

Then there is a volume roll. Depends on the setup which may work better.

i thought tuning it higher was better for burping. I have a 98 nissan maxima. i have no idea what my tuning frequency for my walls is.

ok so that helps out alot i'll try the start stop first.

If i have to i might just bump up to the DD3512e

burping has nothing to do with tuning frequency.

Do you have a wall? That box diagram above looks like a CRX or hatch back box.

A wall in a maxima will be quite some distance from the dash. Tuning may be around 55hz. But the best way to tell is trial and error. You build the enclosure, then play a moderate volume sweep and use a termlab to tell you peak frequency. Then play that frequency at full volume and record your SPL.

Then shrink the airspace of the wall and do it all again.

If you dont have a wall and your sub is in the back, tuning will be much lower.

The 2500 series is good, but not meant for 2500w. I see a blown coil in the future.

Yea i don't have a wall. So do you think i should tune it around 50-55 Hz if I am doing a trunk?

I guess i'll go with the 3512e then.

thank you for helping me out.

will the sub be firing forward or back?

Tuning can be between 45-55hz

You can always build a sealed box with a flat frequency response, and use that to test. Play a sweep and read the peak SPL. The frequency it peaks at will be the frequency you should tune at.

yea the sub will be forward port back.

"You can always build a sealed box with a flat frequency response, and use that to test."

is this for to find the my tuning frequency for my wall?

are you building a wall then?

I thought you were gonna have one sub in the back firing forward.

The sealed box trick is to find the tuning frequency of your car, with the setup you described.

A wall is completely different.
