addicted2ba$$ Posted February 25, 2009 Report Posted February 25, 2009 hey peeps the name is carl just like to say thanks for any help i tried to get help from ficaraudio.com but it has been months and still no response. i have 2 spl 5500 watt amps the specs are "1 ohm at 3200 w x1channel" "2 ohm at 2500w x 1 channel" and "4 ohm at 1700w x 1 channel" obviously i know 4 ohm will not be the best but i know the 15" btl's are 2000 rms so i would want to run my amp on 2 ohm so i do not over power right? and when i purchase the subs would i want them to build dual 1 ohm or dual 2 ohm? any answers will be helpful, sorry just starting out in the audio stag and dont know much but i would love to learn as much as i can. thanks again.
SundownTL3.2 Posted February 25, 2009 Report Posted February 25, 2009 DC audio.................................................................. great cs get 2 ohm to run at 1 ohm if u get more than just stock optins......................... if u want to do 2500 rms then get dual 1 look into DC 2004 Chevy Tahoe LT........... Torres Posted February 25, 2009 Report Posted February 25, 2009 he's asking about wiring options for subs. not which speakers to go with even getting more than stock options, i wouldnt run more power to them unless you're familiar with your equipment/box specs. and no offense to the OP...but if he's asking about wiring options then i dont think he's quite ready to do that yet. as for your questions, if you want to run them at 2 ohms, get the dual 1 ohm subs, and wire them in series. that will give each amp a 2 ohm load. however, what i would do is get the dual 2 ohm subs and wire them in parallel to run them at 1 ohm. keep the gains adjusted safely to not damage anything. then you'll at least have more power on tap as well. plus it's cheaper to get an amp that will do the power you want at 1 ohm than at 2 ohms (in most cases)
rumproast789 Posted February 25, 2009 Report Posted February 25, 2009 not to rip on you or anything, but I'm pretty sure those amps don't put out anywhere near rated power.. correct me if I'm wrong.. 2002 ford explorer 200 amp rewound alt single 18" Fi btl fully loaded 2 1750's 2 c&d tech 88amp/hr batts 2 ought wiring cdt component set up front, cdt coaxials in back Kenwood eXcelon KDC-X693
CrashHole Posted February 26, 2009 Report Posted February 26, 2009 not to rip on you or anything, but I'm pretty sure those amps don't put out anywhere near rated power..correct me if I'm wrong.. His question wasn't about how much power his amp puts out. I would go with Expo as well on getting the dual 2ohm setup. addicted2ba$$ Posted February 26, 2009 Author Report Posted February 26, 2009 you know i dont know if that amp puts out that amount of actual power it seemed to power my old subs fine at 1800rms and that was running 2 ohm with the gain 1/4 down. thanks alot guys i know what to get know. btw way the box specs r going to be 5.5 cubic ft per chamber so it will be within specs
Zade08 Posted February 26, 2009 Report Posted February 26, 2009 Ok in order to get to a 2 ohm load you either need to but a dual 1 or a dual 4 sub. Fi is a great company and so is dc. If i could do it again I would order a nightshade from sundown audio over my bls. Nightshades are a nasty ass sub. Do some research into them too.
