Alpine Deck Help....

Ok so I bought an Alpine 9884 here on SMD. It came with the Ipod cable and it works flawlessly but with one setback...it doesn't charge the Ipod. So is there another model that uses this Ipod cable (Or another cable) that will give me Ipod controls through the deck AND charge it at the same time?

I have the KCE-422i cable which says:

"You have control right from the head unit at full speed. Enhanced features include faster data transmission for quick and easy file navigation, as well as full-tag artist, album, song, genre, podcast, and composer information displayed directly on the head unit, all while charging the iPod battery (available on the CDE-9870, CDE-9873, CDE-9881, CDA-9883, CDA-9885, CDA-9887, iDA-X001, IVA-D105, IVA-W205). Alpine’s exclusive Percentage Search allow you to toggle quickly through your Playlist, Arist, or Album on your iPod. Use "Mix All" to shuffle your music. Alpine Full Speed connectivity offers an improved integrated solution that supercharges your music!

I don't see the 9884 listed there....

Looking at Alpine but will also consider Kenwood and Pioneer. Its for a 2006 Nissan Altima which can house a Double-Din Deck.

(And please...don't suggest something if you don't really know that it does all of the above, I don't feel like hunting down something that don't work)

Is it a Ipod touch? I have the touch 2nd generation and it does not charge with my alpine either. Other older models of ipods work with it and charge but just not that model and some of the other newer models. I had it hooked up to a IVA-W200 and it did eveything but charge it. Alpine needs to fix that problem.

Yep...Ipod Touch 2nd Generation.... :aggressive: I talked with Alpine Tech support this morning and they said they're aware of the problem (Supposebly Ipod changed their pin-out and didn't say anything) and a fix should come out next month as in an adapter you will connect to you existing cable.

I'm already looking into the CDE-102 because the cable it requires (KCE-433iV) will charge an Ipod Touch...Just need to know if it has Fr/Rr/Sub RCA's.

Also the IDA-X303 which comes with a USB cable that will chrage it but I don't like the color options..which are blue and ...blue.

You need the KCA-420i I would think

Alpine's Quick Search keys offer quick and easy navigation through your iPod's music menu, and you can set your receiver's Bass Engine controls to maximize the sound quality of your iPod tunes. And, best of all, the KCA-420i module automatically charges your iPod's internal battery as you drive.

That's what u want right? Did they mention that unit?

hmmm

Note: The KCA-420i is compatible with all iPod models equipped with a dock connector and iPod software update 2004-04-28, or higher. It is also compatible with the iPhone version 1.0.1. This cable will not charge the iPod nano 4th generation or iPod touch 2nd generation without the Scosche passPORT (142IFWA).

so maybe this too

http://scosche.com/products/productID/1667

Description:

- Charging adapter for the iPod nano (Gen 4), iPod touch (Gen 2) and iPhone 3G

- Allows car integration accessories that do not support charging to work with the iPhone 3G and recently released iPod models

- Pass through port allows for easy plug-and-play installation

That should work!

Good Luck!

btw XM tuner hooks up to that unit too!!

I don't recommend the KCA 420. It will control the ipod and will charge it, but you will have very limited function controls of the ipod. It will track up and down, and show mp3 tags. But you will either be stuck listening to every album in order or have it on random.

The KCA-620M USB adapter is another ipod controller that will allow you to use the usb port for your ipod.

There was a ghetto fix on the net somewhere to add the charge feature to the old plug. Or you can hold off for the new plug

not many cars can get me to pluggin my ears but this one.......damn. I mean the first minute is ok but that thing just really starts digging deeper and deeper in your earhole till you cant stand it no more. Seems like it does it with relative ease....16 12's on 8 amps.........gotta love it. :)

I don't know whats up with that crackhead price they put on it. Give it a week after it's released, it will be all over ebay for cheap.

The KCA-420i doesn't charge the touch 2nd generation- I'm using that one now with my IVA-D300. I'll be getting that adaptor as soon as it comes out. Thanks kingsuv for the link

I just looked a sactown's link- it's cheaper and does the same thing -I'm looking into that one.

Well after spending the last hour at my Friend's shop (Custom Sounds-Manteca,Ca) and talking to their Alpine Rep it seems that only 2009 models with either the KCE-433iV or the USB cable included with models like the IDA-X303 or X305 will charge my 2nd generation Ipod Touch.

The other cables will either not charge it or limit my controls.....So I had them order the IDA-X305 (Since the X303's display colors were only blu/white) Should have that in by next week but for now I'll be ordering the Scosche plug which should be back in stock this week.

Thanks to Sactownstang and Kingsuv for their links and to everyone else that chimed in. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/public/style_emoticons/default/dirol.gif

What i learned from Apple is with the new generation of Ipods that there is not a way to charge them via Decks and output sources. I don't know why and I've read of people by passing this somehow

Hope it helps

I'd hit that so fucking hard whoever pulled me out would be King of England.

Lol... looks like we were on the same page. Car-B-Ques suck.

ya, tires and paint burning make the marshmallows taste funny.
