Need Wiring Opinions/Clarification

Recommended Posts

So here is my dilemna.  My sub has two 4ohm voice coils.  I currently have it bridged into 8 ohms @ 500wrms.  My amp says that it is 2 ohm stable in stereo only.  Is it possible to wire for me to wire down to 2 ohms if I only have one sub? If so, wouldn't it only be for my amps single channel output rating of 200wrms.

Okay, all you need to do is take your sub and rewire it +to+ -to- and then to the amp but only 1 channel either right or left. right now you arent getting 500rms out of that amp #1 because its overrated #2 because it only puts out 500rms bridged to 4ohms so if your sub is wired to 8ohms your amp now has a higher resistance load and isnt putting out all it can. however when you wire your sub like i said, you will get a 2ohm load and will be too light of a resistance to hook it up bridging the amp so put your sub on one channel and get another sub just like what you have to get full use out of the amp.

I would run it 4ohm stereo so you use the whole amp and stress it minimally.

2ohm stereo is the most it will do but w/ out a dual 2ohm woofer or like chris sadi onother dual 4, thats not possible.

So, just run each of the 2 channels to it's own voice coil +to+ and -to-. It will be the most power you can extract from that amp w/ out frying it.

Make sure ur power cable is 4ga or bigger and same on the ground and keep the ground under 18" and sand/remove the paint where it meets the chasis.
