  • 2 weeks later...

I ordered my alt last sunday. I ordered a 280 Amp alt. I went with the Amputator series since it has 150 or so amps at idle, and they peak right around 2k rpms. I will post some pics when it comes it and put it in. On a side note, I have decided to pull out my back seats to allow for a bigger box, and a place to mount so new amps, so it looks like I will have room enough for an extra battery. now I was wondering if I can make just one run of 1/0 for the second battery, or if I need 2.

My System:

Pioneer AVH-P3200BT

4-Dayton 7 inch reference series (front doors)

8-Onkyo 3/4 inch tweeters (dash)

1-Sundown Audio 100.4D (mids/highs)

2-18" BTL's (for now)

Crescendo 3kwp (for sale)

Complete rebuild coming soon...

if you go over 4000rms i'd do two runs

2-DC 15XLM2 D.7s

1-DC 5K amp

(1) XS Power D6500(UNDERHOOD) and (1) XS3000(REAR)

3 runs 1/0ga for power and 2 runs of 1/0ga for negative.

(2)-RFT165s components, ...... 4 separate 1 inch tweetersRF T600-2(fronts) Punch 450.4(rear)

Audiocontrol 3.1.

DC power 260amp alternator w/MLA Module

Well, Me and Jon(EpicenterDesigns) installed my new alternator today...and it works very well. Before when I would turn my amp up very loud at idle my voltage would drop to damn near 10 volts, but now Jon said the lowest number he saw was 13.8. well worth the money in my opinion. the only problem we ran into is having to buy a belt that is 1 inch longer...other than that it was really straight forward.

Now for the pics.

Here is the stock alternator, and you can see the positive wire from my big 3.

This is the side by side of the new and old alternator.
