Wtf Is Going On!?

Recommended Posts

This is the same problem that i thought i had fixed by re adjusting the gain setting on my amp...Subs are D1 and they are wired in series parallel To a Sundown SAZ3000d. My box specs are L46'' X H23" X L26.5" Made out of 3/4" MDF. The port is 13"x13"x8.5". Here is a video of the problem i am having...the sub on the left is the one making the noise and it only does it on low notes. If any one has any input or ideas that will help me out please let me know... Thanks...I would take it to the guys at the local shop, but they don't seem to know anything and they act like they can't come out and take a look at anything with out a scheduled apt...I fuckin' hate Alaska!

like army guy said just do some testing and do the process of elimination.

Thanks... i also noticed that it appears that the cone on the one making the noise is positioned a little higher than the other one.

well i finally got around to trouble shooting this problem a week later...

1. i pulled the subs out.

2. i ran new speaker wire

3. switched the subs from one side to the other.

4. switched the wires on the coils

It is still doing it but i think i know what is going on.

I think that when the lift gate on my truck is open there is a big decrease in pressure inside the box...witch is allowing the subs to bottom out on low notes. Also i determined that they are both doing it not just one. It is almost like running the subs free air when the back is opened up. They play just fine when it is closed. So i guess everything is okay since i don't ride around with the rear hatch up...Does this sound like a feasible answer to my problem?

Sounds like the voice coil is bottoming out on the motor, and like james said no backpressure so i guess its kinda like that sub is freeairing, damage will occur
