Two Of My L7s Blew...ughhhh

Recommended Posts

Dont get discouraged, bro. It is just a signal that you're indeed ready for an upgrade. Look at the bright side, once you go to the lvl 4's you can recone them easily

My System:

Pioneer AVH-P3200BT

4-Dayton 7 inch reference series (front doors)

8-Onkyo 3/4 inch tweeters (dash)

1-Sundown Audio 100.4D (mids/highs)

2-18" BTL's (for now)

Crescendo 3kwp (for sale)

Complete rebuild coming soon...

all kicker subs will just randomly go whenever they want

i'm pretty sure theres like a kicker fairy that comes around at night and messes with something, so next time you play with it it goes up in smoke...

but for reals, if you say screw it, you know in like 2 weeks you'll miss it, sell the extra subs, keep that awesome amp, and get some 18's

and kicker is field destroy, solo-x has a spair system, not a recone. it is literally a sub with the magnet unbolted (frame, cone, surround, spider, tinsels, terminals, coil, etc...lust no motor)

i just threw out like 4 over christmas break...lets just say that 5krms is a joke...more like 1400

Build: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...hl=avalon+build

monster/rockford/kicker/stinger cables, pioneer source, jbl highs/amps, kinetik/shuriken batts, iraggi alt, dei security, dc subs(atleast for now)

I know your stressing at the moment. But dam you want to quit car audio, because two subs Blew????? Maybe you should.. Remember ever time that bass hits, that is one beat closer to bye bye, subs don't last forever. And on the bright side if you do get the DC's,,,, recones are easy.... Quit bitching, get your HEAD Up, and get the DC's then you will have a rebuildable sub, and not a throw away...

What I was going to ask is if the speakers came unwired, then perhaps too much wattage was going into the others? I figured the change in resistance is a good failsafe that kick in, but for example, if my amp is mono:

456 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms (657 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms)

And I have 2 speakers hooked up @ 2 ohms and suddenly one comes unplugged somehow (wouldn't happen with the way DVC 2 ohms are wired up, but theoretically speaking) the other would get quite a jolt.

This example doesn't really work because I'd probably hear it and turn it down quick, but if it happened when they were new and not broke, good lord.
