so would i be better off doing more grounds up front and more ground spots in the back? *up front being in the engine bay...* like neg to transmission and neg to engine a few more times?

That and more power wire is what I would do with it. A good alt to batt and batt to chassis ground makes the chassis as good of a ground as the alt case. Go beefy with your big 3 and grounds in the back.

A ground to the battery saves the trouble/risks of drilling into your chassis, creating a ground loop, finding a 'good' ground etc...

A ground to the battery doesn't always guarantee a voltage increase, but it does guarantee a closed circuit with a direct path that you can manipulate however you see fit. If there was no benefit at all, we wouldn't do it. Once you start doing multiple runs (in newer cars) for multiple amps, your best bet would be run - from the front battery. And using the same ground point for multiple amps causes problems as well. Most of the time it boils down to cost.

Kind of off topic but a good point, if you get into really large systems with like 4-5 batteries and you run it back to the front battery. The ONLY ground you have going from the battery bank to the chassis is from that front batt to chassis. In the end i think its more cost efficient (less wire) and safer (a ground for each, or at least every 2 batteries). Just a thought.
