Colin - STAPUFT Posted June 25, 2011 Author Report Posted June 25, 2011 What's the most amount of alts you can fit? I could go crazy and buy (@ $500) a contraption that would hold up to 4. ...but then I would have to get 2 more alternators. If I just removed the compressor, I believe I could make a simple bracket that held another alternator (which I have). ....so- if I removed the compressor and added the other alt I have, that would bring me to @440 rated amps. -more realistically something like 300-400 max. I am pretty sure 2 alts would cover it. When I went from a 120 amp to 220 it was like night and day- one more of those I believe would have me covered. My max theoretical amperage draw is only 350-400 amps anyway. 12 - 12"s in the STAY PUFT 1989 Chevy Astro Build & Comment Log Un-Interrupted Build LogYouTube Channel Chevy Trailblazer 5.1 Dolby Digital DTS Install You have a beard of a mysterious sea captain. Colin - STAPUFT Posted June 26, 2011 Author Report Posted June 26, 2011 Well- the offending cylinder head is out, cleaned up, and my dad rebuilt it (angle matched everything, checked the seats, new seals, etc...). Will post some pics later. ...Pretty sure I am going to pull the other side while I have it down this far. Psh- why not? 12 - 12"s in the STAY PUFT 1989 Chevy Astro Build & Comment Log Un-Interrupted Build LogYouTube Channel Chevy Trailblazer 5.1 Dolby Digital DTS Install You have a beard of a mysterious sea captain. rubbernutz1 Posted June 26, 2011 Report Posted June 26, 2011 true if you went as far as having the valve seats ground in the one head you might as well do the other one to. that way you know you got good seal on all the valves. more work but fuck its worth it. i put those door pod pics up that you wanted to see

I'll check out the pods. Yeah- it is this far down.... why not. I got to thinking- once done, it will be a full upper motor resto. lol And I can also get in there and replace the motor mounts. Still begs the question- why oh why didn't I just drop the sub-frame and put in a different motor. ...but I know why- it's no different than stereo stuff I guess. Just like to tinker. hehe 12 - 12"s in the STAY PUFT 1989 Chevy Astro Build & Comment Log Un-Interrupted Build LogYouTube Channel Chevy Trailblazer 5.1 Dolby Digital DTS Install You have a beard of a mysterious sea captain. 2loudisjustright Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 Nice to see a wall of the old vegas. They were some pretty good subs back in the day. I had a couple of the 12's myself. 2000 zx2: Rebuild with 8 12s on a 10k underway!! MY BUILD LOG
Colin - STAPUFT Posted July 2, 2011 Author Report Posted July 2, 2011 No pictures b/c it is more of the same, but the driver's side head has been rebuilt too. One of the valves had a broken spring (dampener inside the spring). Now.... since they are easy to get to and they have 22 years and 245k miles- motor mounts. Then on to putting her back together. 12 - 12"s in the STAY PUFT 1989 Chevy Astro Build & Comment Log Un-Interrupted Build LogYouTube Channel Chevy Trailblazer 5.1 Dolby Digital DTS Install You have a beard of a mysterious sea captain.
