Colin - STAPUFT Posted February 12, 2012 Author Report Posted February 12, 2012 On the whole Stay Puft thing..... Since forever ago, I have wanted to try my hand at a Frosted Plexiglass project. (Look up BLADE ICE's Van on proper lessons on how to do it right), but I got an idea of something I wanted to try... Pictures Below: My dad has gobs of stuff.... like old plexi. (Stuff is expensive Retail!) So, free. Took forever to find the right font. I wanted the font that matched "STAY PUFT" on the Marshmallow Man's hat. Cut Out Taped Up. Dremel. Ground a good bit to get some depth. Polished Up. Picked up a string of LEDs from Auto Zone. I was concerned with how many lights this thing would need to be bright enough, but as you guys can see, just the top is plenty. I still have enough lighs to do some other pieces I am already thinking about... Preppin' the vanity panel. Cut and ready to wrap. Wrapped Without lights... LIT! (it is a cool white- for some reason this photo looks all blue) All I have to do now is to put it in the van. I am going to put it on the vanity panel on the top of the sub box. I don't have it in the van just yet, but it will be going on the sub box- way up high right by the headliner. It won't take too much to get that done, so hopefully tomorrow (life and family permitting). On a different note- Everyone Get a GARAGE set up! As it would seem, thanks to the Garage & UBL, there's been so much traffic on my photos that PHOTOBUCKET has put my account on lock down for more money. Well forget that! So... I've been copying photos from PHOTOBUCKET to FACEBOOK, & changing all the image links here on SMD. Tedious- big time. So- lots more traffic b/c of the GARAGE and UBL. Thanks for the support guys! Right now I just wired it to the remote turn on- so when the system comes on, the light comes on. I may change my mind on that to make it where it only comes on with the other lights on a switch. I think it gives it contrast. It does stick out a bit more than I would like (read... it looks like I put it up there after the fact... which I did). All in all though, I think I like it. I have some more of the LEDs and a good bit more Plexi, i just need to figure out where to put them. Right now I'm thinking on the back of the center console box I built and on either side of the inside of the sub box (the part where it is painted black). BLADE ICE did that and it puts off light on the subs.
