bennett15
Okay i know that using bass boost causes clipping and on and on but why do manufactures still put it in there amps? i know on my amp if i turn bass boost completely off the sub does not play? so i need at leat some of a bass boost. Also it sounds like i have no bass if its not turned up gain is set correct with dmm but there is substantially less bass output. Just want some one to clarify this. 98 Dodge Durango 12 000K 50/55W Headlights 12 000K 35W Fog lights HU Panasonic CQ-VX100 7" Reciever (1) Fi SSD 18" Fully Loaded (1) Ported box 33hz (1) Soundstream TRX1500D (1) Soundstream TRX2.440 (1) RE 6.5" Component Set (1) Rear battery Big 3 in 0/1 gauge 2 runs of 1/0 Gauge wire 250A Alt soon.. Decaf
ill do my best to explain.... u can use bass boost to some extent, but without seeing the signal on an oscope or utilizing a clippin light, ul never know when uve made the signal more dirty and clipped heres an example: frayser boy - me being me peak is 11db at 50hz 6db bass boost 12db bass boost 18db bass boost 24db bass boost u can see that the song utilized up to 12db bass boost before clipping.... so itd be fine to use boost, but no song is the same so there is no set boost point thats safe as a rule of thumb i never use more the 6db boost, ever... if the subs not hitting loud enough, something else isnt right, boost isnt meant to help that... and its usually centered at 45hz, which if the songs peak isnt around that, ur not turnin it up as much too try turnin the sub volume/level up on the headunit for example alpines go from 0-15, full voltage is only present at 15 to get 2/4v my jvc goes from 0-12 and it to needs to be at 12 to get ~5v

troy
if your running a mon amp it only requires one side being that bass isnot stereo retarded build on the way..... 2000 bagged s10 2 hdc3 15s aq2200 aq4x90 stinger/knu wire optima batteries 220 amp alt fosgate hu/mids and highs
Decaf
yes i realize that but it only has one pre out while my rca's have a left and right pre out thats what u need, the male goes to ur headunit preout, and ur rcas (l&r) go to amp l&rif your running a mon amp it only requires one side being that bass isnot stereonot necessarily, if the preout for the sub has left and right u might need both to get full voltage
bennett15
okay because on my h/u i have the subwoofer mode on but when i adjust the volume of it it doesnt get any louder so im guessing thats b/c im using the rear pre outs instead of the sub pre out? 98 Dodge Durango 12 000K 50/55W Headlights 12 000K 35W Fog lights HU Panasonic CQ-VX100 7" Reciever (1) Fi SSD 18" Fully Loaded (1) Ported box 33hz (1) Soundstream TRX1500D (1) Soundstream TRX2.440 (1) RE 6.5" Component Set (1) Rear battery Big 3 in 0/1 gauge 2 runs of 1/0 Gauge wire 250A Alt soon..
