I might visit my bro and then do a 30 minute drive to Salem just to watch the show. How come there are no flyers and such? Is it a big show? Anyhow, I've ordered a new battery for my digital camera that's not working and hopefully I can get pics under my hood up by end of this week. I think I'm going to start buying the wires for my big 3 and battery and start doing this on Monday or so. Blah. The big 3 upgrade can't be that hard. Guest KyleCannon Posted April 6, 2009 Report Posted April 6, 2009 I have a 1997 Avalon, here are some pics from mine so if mine looks anything like yours: okay, so the negative is going to the chassis as you can see in the bottom left.... the red heatshrink is the positive wire of the alternator. the wire connecting to the top right (where the intake is in the middle-top left (thats the engine to chassis grounding) -- its grounded to the frame right where the strut mount is. Another view showing you where it's grounded to (look above the PS tank on the left side) hopefully i did some help.... this is also a 1MZ-FE engine... so it may look just like yours... Quote

So far, I know how to do the positive of battery to positive of alternator. But now, I'm just looking for a good ground. Did you drill a hole on yours or did you use a place where there was already a bolt? If I drill a new hole, what kind of nuts and bolt do I need? I have some ideas of where to ground and i'll take pictures of that when my new battery for my digital camera arrives. I'm also trying to figure out where on my engine block I should be wiring off of. I've bought 9 feet of Kolossus Fleks Kable 1/0 Blue Power/Ground Wire 9 feet of red knu flex wires: 10 ring terminals (just in case I mess up while soldering/crimping) In-Line Waterproof ANL Fuse Holder w/ Fuse Knukoncept $$: Sub Total $98.69 Tax $0.00 Ship Rate $9.99 Order Total $108.68 I also bought Torch: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/disp...temnumber=42099 ~$7.00 for the torch I also bought this for some reason: Piece Wire Wheel and Cup Brush Set hmm. Can I use this to get rid of the paint to where I'll be grounding? Also got some zip ties. Total from harborFreigth: ~20.00 shipped (bought some other crap too but I fo And my new yellow top D34/78: $190.00 shipped Total spent so far for this electrical upgrade: $314.00 (with the new yellow top -.-) I still have to buy: 60/40 Rosin core solder (I need someone here to direct me to a good site online to buy this and how much of it) Crimping/clamping tool? Well, I'm assuming i'll need this too... Where should I buy one? Wire Loom and Shrink Wrap http://www.parts-express.com/wizards/searc...FTOKEN=10414040 What size of this flex thing should I get for my wires? Also, what size shrink wrap should I get? Hmm. I can't think of anything else that I'd need.
