anubis Posted April 5, 2009 Report Share Posted April 5, 2009 i have a spare memphis old 4 channel now and wanted to know what size psu i need to run it? i tore one out of my old tower that was 250 watt and the amp smoked it after 10 minutes...... but my ssl cr5000.1 didnt wtf? oh and my soundstorm mono doesnt have fuses on the outside is that y? EricM9104 Posted April 5, 2009 Report Share Posted April 5, 2009 A 250W PSU will usually only output ~10A on the 12V rail... Which would be why it fried... For a 4ch amp, I'd reccomended a PSU that outputs at least ~40A on the 12V rail(s)... Don't forget, all the other rails (3.3v and 5v) will require a minimum of ~1A load or else it'll act funky.
