pandabear368 Posted April 7, 2009 Report Posted April 7, 2009 and if so do only some stereo's hook-up to a computer? thx.
Guest Posted April 7, 2009 Report Posted April 7, 2009 i used an rca adapter to go from 3.5mm to rca's. then from rca's to the input on my amp. then to the speakers and sub.
Starion82 Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 Yes you can do it, there are many ways 1. you can buy a computer power supply like 700w and use the 12v off that to power your amp and get a 3.5mm to RCA and plug into an output on your pc. Only problem is that there is no way to control the frequency going out of that output so you will need a crossover. Theres heaps of vids on youtube on how to do this aswell, + look at the comments below, alot of people agree its a bad idea because the power supply doesn't put out enough Amps on the 12v rail. 2. You can buy some type of 240v modulator on ebay for about $300 but it will run the amp at full power and unlike the pc power supply, you would probobly blow up the power supply, and maybe your amp so i wouldn't recommend it. 3. You can get a home theater amplifier that used 240v and plug in the RCA cables into the input and wire your subs to it. This is the setup i am running and its ok. I would suggest if you were going to get one that you get one with a really good crossover because i'm still getting vocals through my subs and it sounds terrible when turned up.
BassAddict32 Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 yea, you can. i do. i run small things though. 300 watt amp, 145 watt psu, 60 watt h/u, 1 roadmaster, 5 durabrand highs. nothing big but it sounds okay. i've been running them for a good 5 months now and nothing bad has happened. now, i'm not saying it won't but everything seems to be working well on mine. 1994 Ford F150 reg cab 2 HFX 12's Audiopipe APSM-1300
