My old lights I wet sanded with 1000, 1500, and 2000. Used a powerball and buffed them with Rubbing compond to get any fine scratches the 2000 couldnt get. Then wax or you can put some kind of Clear coat on them. They looked alot better when it was done.

Don't put on a clear coat after 2000 grit or you'll have a hard time getting it to stick.

Wouldn't even worry about a clear coat, just polish.

I just waxed mine. Heard of a neighbor using a Clear Laquer and it looked great. But I tried it on another set of lights I had and had to throw them away :) So yeah I guess i'd stay away from clear unless you know what your doing.
