The Performer
I listened to "Bleeding me" all the way home today. I forgot how Metallica had a good song of two in the 90's. Hell yeah! That's a hell of a track if you've got the S&M album. Sounds to me like the alpine doesn't know how to process the newer larger flash drives. If I remember that H/U is from a year or two ago, not sure if 16GB drives were getting used to much that alpine put the technology into the processing. If you absolutely NEED to have more music space I would recommend getting the full speed ipod and a large ipod that you plan on leaving in the vehicle. Go to a pawn shop and look for a simple, cheap, large ipod to hold all your music. I'd be willing to bet even the portable HDD are even too large for the alpine to process. Look into the booklet, I want to say they should say the limits of how big of space you can be safe with. Quote CERTIFIED BITCHES!!! Not being new at something doesn't mean anything. G_Fresh
Head units only take up to a specific amount, just like cell phones and sd cards. You gotta read the instructions to find out how much you can use.
brewer_brewer
yeah. alpines instruction manual is nothing more than "this button does this, this button if pressed for 2 seconds does this" i'm gonna call alpine on monday and see what they say. G_Fresh
Wait.. Is that 16 gig formatted in FAT32? To do this (On a PC) Plug usb device in.. Right click "my computer", go to manage. Then click storage, then disk management. Also, if it isn't, copy everything off it onto your pc, then reformat it to FAT32. sactownstang
How are u hooking this up? Is this going thru the ipod connector? Heck I would be happy if I could hook a 4 gig up, how you do it?
brewer_brewer
it came with an adapter. it plugs into the headunit and then splits into an ipod adapter and a usb adapter. most new headunits allow you to use a usb flash drive. imo. it is much better than a ipod because you control it from the headunit and you can organize folders by artists and then organize albums from that artist inside of that folder.
