MaXtOr Posted April 21, 2009 Report Posted April 21, 2009 any of you guys know what the heck happened to my eyebrid amp? see pics below: suddenly started to get smelly, then pam! protect on. then if i turned it on again, no problems but when i turned up the volume a bit: pam! protect with a loud (high snap noise from the amp itself.) the next day i treid again but same. now i soldnered it together again. worked fine for 2 days but now when i turn up the volume i get a loud like 45hz tone no matter on what volume! what exactly is smoked? can you guys help me? thanks!!

Boon Posted April 22, 2009 Report Posted April 22, 2009 That bus-rail has just about de-soldered itself by the looks of things, probably got INCREDIBLY hot. I would say there's a short somewhere in your output section, probably bad FET somewhere in it... 10.x volts fo' life!
