Hostility Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 i recently built a box for my 99 s10 ext cab for a 12" re xxx, tuned to 32hz, in a 2.5cf3 box. it gets the lows alright, but doesnt seem to hit hard at all, the box is, sub up, port drivers side, straight slot port. should i be building a bigger box? and if i do that the i would have to port up, and L shape it. or bigger port? i want it to hit HARD and get the low low's but sound good for rock and everything, i listen to everything from rap, to trance to country to rock to metal. so what should i do? sealed maybe? but i want it to be hella loud and make stuff jump around inside my truck lol. help please. AI James Posted May 5, 2009 Report Posted May 5, 2009 what power is going to it? you need 2 cubes and 34-36hz at rms imo, youll slap the lows and still get some decent upper end out of it. tuning the new xxx low isnt really nessesary Quote

Hostility Posted May 5, 2009 Author Report Posted May 5, 2009 well the best i can do right now is 1600rms. im hoping in the future to slap 2 sundown 1500d's to it. but for now thats all i have to give it. so tuning to 37-38 hz will still play the lows? well making same style box. sub up port drivers side straight, i came up with this. 2.40 ft3 @ 36.48hz, 40.63 in2 port now should i build same style? i want sub up. but whats best, i heard port to drivers side. or is it best to port up? or to passenger side? also, when cutting out sub hole, where is it best to be cut out, middle of box or at the end so the air has to move to one end of the box to travel out of port? Hostility Posted May 5, 2009 Author Report Posted May 5, 2009 ok so i made up a quick sh*t drawing on paint just so i can get a view. the black outline and red is the port, is this how you meant ray? and should i make the box longer then to keep the sub behind passenger seat and port behind drivers seat? but then that would make my volume bigger.
