I don't think I can get technical enough through typing without writing a book but a type of compression takes place which forms a super-matter, think of it as a black hole pushed into the size of an atom. A chain reaction occurs causing the particles which make up the super-matter to basically repel each other, leaving a vacume which wasn't there before, or the creation of space. And a white hole is left in it's place...god if I could only find the articles I read that from...It spells it out in much less generic terms, and actually made a lot of sense.
