One of the websites I had found said it it because of the way the barrel is made, it can't withstand the outward loads exerted by newer ammo.

look for low recoil loads usually used for shooting trap & skeet. I bet you money i can handle those loads. worth a shot

alot of those older type guns use a damascis (spelling) type barrell where it is not rated for modern mag' loads

very light loads for skeet or such 'should' be ok but if you can find some older type black-powder shot-shells u'll be fine on those, way slower burn and less chaimber pressure
