I should clarify on my Tips post that I dry sand with the 80 and the 150. Then I wet sand with the 220. Then I primer and wet sand the primer with 220, then 400.

when i would wet sand my car it was to make it strait. I would primer it than i would put on a guide coat, since i was using yellow primer, i used flat black as my guide coat. then i would wet sand or "block" with 400 then let it dry primer it again, block again, do this 3 times with the 400 then after that i would go up in grit i would go to 800 then 1000, then paint it. But this was with a car and not plastic pieces

when i wet sand i change paper more than when dry sand.

Are you using wet sanding paper?

If you use regular sanding paper, it will fall apart quickly.

KICKER - You still didn't answer what you think the water does. Other than ruin your paper.

look when u wet sand the "dust" stays in the water and sticks to the paper. thus needing to change paper more often!

that is why to keep that excess dust out of my sandpaper longer i use a water bottle with a small hole poked in the top of it and keep it rinsing while i am sanding. You didn't piss anyone off, some just didn't know what you were getting at with that post, now that you have told us why you change paper more we understand that post. didn't mean to make you think I was pissed off.
