Big Papa
How can you tell if you're getting port noise? On some songs theres a weird sound coming from the box. Could this be port noise or what? 06 Taurass SE 1 PPI Pro104 MTX TC 4001D Amp 1.5 CU. at 34 hz After Christmas... 2 PPI Pro104's Audiopipe 1500D 3.4 CU. at 35 hz

Could this be port noise or what? you would know, port noise also know as port wind has a rough pressurized air sound. You would be able to hear it standing next to the port. * Head Unit: Kenwood KDC-MP732 * iPod Interface: KCA-iP500 * Front Stage: Rockford Fosgate Power T1652-S * Front Stage Amp: Rockford Fosgate Punch P400-2 * Rear Stage: Alpine SPR-13C Type-R 5-1/4" * Amp: Rockford T10001bd * Subs: (2) 15" Rockford P3s * Front Battery: Optima RedTop * Back Battery: Kinetic Hc2400 * Wiring: Rockford 1/0 * Big 3: Rockford 1/0 * Enclosure: Idyllic
Big Papa
so is this "port wind" you speak of just the port vibrating and causing a fucked up sound because it's not braced right? 06 Taurass SE 1 PPI Pro104 MTX TC 4001D Amp 1.5 CU. at 34 hz After Christmas... 2 PPI Pro104's Audiopipe 1500D 3.4 CU. at 35 hz
velcroslap
so is this "port wind" you speak of just the port vibrating and causing a fucked up sound because it's not braced right? no its from the air being pushed out of the port. your port is acting like a valve, compressing the air before it leaves the box causing a noise. a bigger port can sometimes cure this problem. * Head Unit: Kenwood KDC-MP732 * iPod Interface: KCA-iP500 * Front Stage: Rockford Fosgate Power T1652-S * Front Stage Amp: Rockford Fosgate Punch P400-2 * Rear Stage: Alpine SPR-13C Type-R 5-1/4" * Amp: Rockford T10001bd * Subs: (2) 15" Rockford P3s * Front Battery: Optima RedTop * Back Battery: Kinetic Hc2400 * Wiring: Rockford 1/0 * Big 3: Rockford 1/0 * Enclosure: Idyllic
mxman38
no its because u have to much air coming out of too small of a port... I like to think of it like exhaling out of a really thin straw.

Ray
a port does not "compress" air.
