Zade08 Posted June 3, 2009 Report Posted June 3, 2009 Hey guys. Ok I have a stinger 300a fuse on all 2awg wiring the big 3 and a 200amp alt. The only amp Im running right now is my sax-50.4. Now my fuse up front is literally scolding. I meen I just touched it after driving for 15 minutes and it left a blister on my finger. I have a everstart 750 cca battery up front and its holding its charge like its suppose to. Part of my fuse block has start to melt from alot of heat. This thing is no where near the engine so engine heat isnt a factor. Its at the top of the driver side firewall, Is this normal cuz Icant seem to understand wtf is wrong. Vehicle: 2001 Ford Escape Head Unit: Kenwood Kdc-x592 All out for a rebuild. New shit coming in the next 30 days.
eliassami5 Posted June 3, 2009 Report Posted June 3, 2009 no its not normal, check to see if the wire making full contact on the fuse block. If its only making slight contact then thats the weakest part of the whole run of wire and lots of amps are trying to get through that weak spot causing a bottle neck sort of situation and that will cause the heat issue. try a different 300A fuse, the one you are using might be defective. Check your connections after the fuse block, there might be a small short in the wire causing a large amperage draw but not enough to blow the fuse. I have this stinger fuse block and the blot on the right side broke loose from the plastic from road shock. it must keep loosening the nut and making a weak point that your talking about. tacomabanga1986 Posted June 7, 2009 Report Posted June 7, 2009 ya, hell a house has 200amp breakers n shit runs on it all the time n nothin blows, i wouldn't run over 150max on 2awg, i got 250amp fuse on my 0guage goin to back battery, n 150amp fuse comein off alt n all mine are fine, n those type of fuse holders suck ass, i got one but its sound quest, but i wouldn't run no were nere over 150amp fuse ona 2guage i had a 150amp fuse on my 4guage kit but wasnt pullin but 75amps from it with a cap, but 2guage i wouldn't go past 200 at the most, that might be the problem, i got 3 300amp fuses in my room but i dnt feel like useing them due to the fact that i aint got that much current flowing, n if u ever blow a 300amp fuse somethin is seriously wrong, ive seen pics of ppls fuses just gettin blood red n hella hot without blowing n that was from a pure shorted out wire here's a link to my system 99 toyota tacoma , 2 mtx 8000 1504's in a sealed downfire , 1000w memphis amp here's a link to my other system my 90 geo prizm test car heres a thread i got of new songs u can dl that are legal = Some Good Bangage/you Can Dl These Free And Legit
