Is There A Big Difference Between 12' & 15's?

Recommended Posts

i dont think a box for 2 15's will fit in my trunk :( so i might have to go with 2 12's! can someone tell me the difference between the different sizes if the subs are the the exact same model?

:)

the only thing i could think of is the amount of air it will push when vented.

are 15's deeper than 12's or does that all depend on your box?

i once went form a single 12 to a single 15, comparable in specs, and both in recommended ported boxes tuned mid 30's

both the subs sounded the same, hit the same on lows and same output, UNTIL i'd go to turn it up, the 12 will plateau but the 15 will be able to go noticeably louder do to the fact it was pushing more air

head unit - Panasonic MXE CQ-C7403U

amp - Cerwin-Vega EXL 1200D

subs - (x2) Cerwin Vega V-MAX 15.4

box - 5.8 ^3 at 32hz

spkrs- Phoenix Gold Rsd Comps

to clafity are you saying you could turn the volume up louder on the same subs but with a larger diameter?

if so im calling BS, it will sound louder though if thats what you mean.

OP yes 15s are usually deeper then 12s of the same model due to basket differences
