2k1prayl00d Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 With a 1000 watt amp, how much rms or watts would I get with the diamond d6? I beleive they get a nominal rms of 500 watts and max output of 1000 watts.. I don't really know how to calculate and the amp is temporary use. -Thanks Quote
Forevrbumpn Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 depends on the amp, the wiring, the box Quote I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.
Rogers Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 the 12" d6 is rated at 600/1200.... my best friend had 2 of them running off of 2 diamond d3 800.1's daily.... and they seemed to love the power.... i had one running off of a hifonics bxi608 600rms(a tad over rated...) and it just laughed at the power.... Thanks, thats all i needed to know lol. ill be getting one in a custom ported enclosure - magnet facing upward.. just hoping they bump the shit out of my amp Quote

Can't say how much wattage you'd be feeding the sub because we don't know what amp you have, or what impedance the sub is. Give said info and we can help you out. 2k1prayl00d Posted June 15, 2009 Author Report Posted June 15, 2009 I have a nitro bmw-482, the impedance will be 2 ohms unbridged... i guess you guys can tell i lack the education of this type of stuff lol so i apologize Quote
SQMonte Posted June 15, 2009 Report Posted June 15, 2009 I have a nitro bmw-482, the impedance will be 2 ohms unbridged... i guess you guys can tell i lack the education of this type of stuff lol so i apologizeok, the specs on the amp are:100 watts x 2 channels 150 watts x 2 channels Bridged RMS Power 300 watts Minimum Impedance Unbridged 2 ohms Minimum Impedance Bridged 4 Ohms Your sub is a DVC, but does it have dual 2 ohm coils or dual 4 ohm coils? If dual 2 ohm coils, the final impedance will be either 4ohms or 1ohm, depending how you wire the coils. I think it's clear that you should wire it to end up 4ohms since that's the minimum impedance your amp can handle when bridged. At that point you'd only be able to feed it 300 watts rms (if you could even get that much out of it) which is severely underpowering that sub, which has a 600 watts rms rating. You can run it like that, just don't get too happy w/the volume knob. If you have a dual 4 ohm sub, your final impedance will be 2ohms cause you won't wire it to be 8ohms, at that point your amp will have issues cause the impedance is too low. 2k1prayl00d Posted June 16, 2009 Author Report Posted June 16, 2009 Well I know either way I would be underpowering the sub. no matter what way I wire it up lol. To conclude I will just buy a new amp, I didn't think I would be underpowering it by that much haha Quote
