ps6435 Posted June 25, 2009 Author Report Posted June 25, 2009 yes...if you play under the tuning freq which ive said like 4 times. 510w? the amp can only do 400rms at 4 ohms bridged. its wired up at 2 ohm...
Guest Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 its wired up at 2 ohm... bridged? or using both channels. because i dont think that amp is stable at 2 ohms bridged. 2 ohms stereo 200W x 2 Channel @13.8V (RMS Continuous Power) 4 ohms bridged 400W x 1 RMS source: http://www.caraudioforum.com/vbb3/showthread.php?t=156812
alvitae Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 it just sounds to me like your box is tuned way too hight.... get one built with a tuning frequency in the low to mid 30hz range... and you will be slammin on the lows.... imo you shouldnt have a box that is tuned 40hz and up unless you are burping... This is what is going on, Your box is tuned to high. Unless you are going to be competing and burping tones mostly you need a new box or retune the one you have. My box is tuned to 60 so I know exactly what you are talking about. If I drop my subsonic filter down low and turn it up I get the same problem as you are having.
ps6435 Posted June 25, 2009 Author Report Posted June 25, 2009 bridged? or using both channels. because i dont think that amp is stable at 2 ohms bridged. the website says this amp is stable at 2 ohm i only have one subwoofer and its wired up at 2 ohm and its hooked up to left channel positive and right channel negative which is how you do mono... because on amp it has chart for mono and points to those two...
~digital~bass~ Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 the only way you can check if the amp is pushing the sub too hard is with a dmm. or an oscilloscope. those are pretty much the only 2 options. the sub can sound like crap when your playing too low of a note and the sub is over-excursion'ing (word?) itself. set the subsonic filter to about 40hz (if the box really is tuned to 45hz). or if your clipping the absolute hell out of the amp. So now Oscilloscopes can tell you if your pushing the sub to hard or not? Awosme. Which scope do you have? Never heard of them doing that. What does it say on the screen. "Warning, warning, warning...Pushing sub to hard"? Car Audio + Bodyboarding/Longboarding = LIFE!!!

ps6435 Posted June 25, 2009 Author Report Posted June 25, 2009 i meant if the amp is clipping, thanks for the sarcasm ass if i were to get a bigger amp that pushes around say 1000 rms and had gain turned down less would i have less chance of clipping?
