I tried to get sponsored by soundstream and kinetic. Neither worked. Soundstream wanted me to go to a lot of shows, 10, 20, 0r 30 a year depending on the level of sponsorship. To be honest there just arent that many shows around here and its hard for me to drive a distance to go to a show bc of the way my truck has been customized (it really sucks on gas too) & also they wouldnt do a partial sponsorship. It was all SS or nothing. So then I went to kinetik, they were willing to work with me but it had to be through my local shop and they just never had any intrest so I had to give up on that one too. In the end it may have cost me more money but its been easier just being independent and paying for it as i can afford it.

Current System:

Pioneer 6900 HU

Front Stage: (for now)

Soundstream tarantula 5.25 in the doors

Soundstream tarantula 4x6 in the dash

Kenwood 400.4 for mids & highs

Bass:

4 Soundstream RW-12's

2 Power Acoustik Stax 4000/1D's

single chamber box, 2.65 cubes.

Currently under the knife being bagged

To be honest...you need to make a name for yourself on your dime before you ever think of approaching a company for a sponsorship. Why would a company sponsor someone that hasn't done anything? The days of a free ride are over, best you can expect is maybe competitor pricing. The person that said ROI is exactly correct!

to tell you the truth, i know a lot of company reps cant even get a sponsorship to build a demo car for the company anywhere beyond getting parts at cost from a retailer willing to work with them

even going all out with a show car that draws crowds and puts out the company name left and right, its still paid for out of pocket

also, quite a few people who had decent sponsorships dont even really own their cars anymore, between reps and the company "borrowing" it for shows and events, they lose their car for a good deal of time, and are the ones stuck paying for lost gas and wear and tear (some companies put in a clause where you must attend a certain amount of shows, other say they can use your car without you for shows)

honestly, find some deals and bite the bullet and pay for it yourself, thats how 99.99999% of people out there with systems do it, and to think you're one of the one in a million people worthy of getting a full sponsorship, think again. Most companies will barely even give out a representative/employee/vendor accomodation if you want to use their products in a show car.

I have to agree with Boon...most sponsors operate on a ROI policy...Return On Investment....meaning, will you be able to generate enough interest in their company and products to offset the $$$ they will be loosing givng you the products at the sponsorship price.

It is better for them to sponsor someone with a $100 piece of shit car that goes to shows or competitions every weekend vs. a $100,000 custom ride that never goes to anything... more advertisment= more in return to them.

With the economy in the toilet right now you will be very hard pressed to find any companies offering any kind of sponsorships right now...and as much as I hate to say it, you can sometimes still buy you gear on the internet for less than what you can get at sponsorship price.

It is better for them to sponsor someone with a $100 piece of shit car that goes to shows or competitions every weekend vs. a $100,000 custom ride that never goes to anything... more advertisment= more in return to them. <---exactly what do you mean.. ?

so they would rather sponsor me...a 88 s10 stock old truck than his haha!!!!

but im prob gonna do my whole system on my own no sponsors...cuz yall said they be taking my truck from me and using HECK NAHHH!!!! lol...but would it be good to try and get a sponsor ? as long they didnt take my truck and just made me go to shows and they gave me money and subs and and crap ?

lets just say for example.

someones driving this

regularly to competitions , and is doing pretty damn decent. pretty soon people are going to develop an interest in the equipment the person is using.

Now lets say someone is drives this

Twice to a competition. how much interest in the product hes using and hype is he really building? close to none

public interest+exposure to a product= more chances of someone wanting to buy from that company.

Get what i mean?

(my bad if this is confusing, i just woke up not longer than 10 min ago :lazy: )

You can try to get sponsored by a local shop, there's a shop around me that I've talk with, and all that they require is you run all their equipment, and go to their shows, and they will give you the equipment at their cost

amp - Cerwin-Vega EXL 1200D

subs - (x2) Cerwin Vega V-MAX 15.4

box - 5.8 ^3 at 32hz

spkrs- Phoenix Gold Rsd Comps

Guys not to be a dick, but you arent going to get them. You cant just simply ask how to get them. If you dont know what to do and how to go about it, you arent going to get them and arent ready.

Even Meade himself has been turned down for some. Take those seats for instance. Back a year or so ago I think he said that he tried to talk to the upholstery company and they said no. Steve gets really good exposure and does everything he can to rep his products, and they still said no.

Alot of the big names in audio arent even sponsored.
