amariga09
This might sound really dumb, but i'm tryin to learn a little ..... for example if you have a 4 ohm sub with 600 rms .. and your trying to match up an amp to it ... do you look at the amps 4ohm rms or 2ohm rms???? enemyofsilence
if your sub is single voice coil, then you look at the 4ohm rms in the amp. if your sub is dual 4 ohm voice coil, then you look at the 2ohm rms. Quote Team Bass-Hz

BulletInjection
you gotta look at the 2ohm rms then because when you wire them they will have a 2ohm impedence Quote My build: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...8920&st=100 http://www.youtube.com/Bulletinjection

BulletInjection
So is it better to get a dual 4ohm or a dual 2ohm sub Depences on the amp you choose, if you get a dvc you will need an amp that will give you the correct rms at your ohm load. I have a dvc 2ohm and it is wired parallel to give me 1ohm load but if wired in series will give you a 4ohm load. Since at 1ohm I find an appropriate amp that is 1ohm stable that will give me the correct rms for my application Quote My build: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...8920&st=100 http://www.youtube.com/Bulletinjection

siucsaluki11
I wish i knew these forums existed when i first got my stereo a year and some months ago now. I wouldda know that for the 2 dual 2 ohm subs i had i needed either 2 amps that were one ohm stable that put out 500w RMS at 1 ohm or 1 2 ohm stable amp that put out 1000w RMS at 2 ohms, lol. (or just buy the D4 subs, lol) ANYWAY Use the calc on the12volt.com It will help you alot. If you get 2 D2 subs you will end up with a .5 ohm or 2 ohm load if wired to one amp. D4 subs will give you a 1 ohm or 4 ohm load if you wire 2 subs to the same amp. D2s can be wired to 1 or 4 ohms individually while D4s can be wired to 2 or 8 ohms individually.
