VistaV6 Posted July 4, 2009 Report Posted July 4, 2009 Hey guys, I was looking at the Fi site, and I don't really understand the ohms on the 18" BTL. It says 1.4 ohms per coil, so, what final impedance would that dual 2 and dual 4 be? Also another question, if you take a mono block amplifier, that has 4000 RMS at 1 ohm. and say there were two subs that both had a 2000 RMS and 1 ohm power handling, could you use a power distribution block to power both of them from the one amp? I know ya guys told me not to ask questions but this is kinda urgent. SUCCESS is a decision, NOT a dream. You have to name the price you are willing to pay to get it. VistaV6 Posted July 4, 2009 Author Report Posted July 4, 2009 So, I was just looking at the crutchfield wiring diagrams...and it says on there that one subwoofer with a 2 ohm dvc has a 4ohm total impedance. Is this wrong? SUCCESS is a decision, NOT a dream. You have to name the price you are willing to pay to get it. "You didn't have an ice pick on you? Amateur. " -- Wax from Fchat.
javy101 Posted July 4, 2009 Report Posted July 4, 2009 A dual one ohm speaker can either wire to 2 or .5 ohms. a dual 2 ohm will wire down to 1 or 4 ohms. so if you want one btl wired to one ohm get the dual 2ohm

VistaV6 Posted July 4, 2009 Author Report Posted July 4, 2009 Alright, any body have a suggestion of a good amp that would be able to power one 18 BTL in the parallel 1 ohm wiring? EricR Posted July 4, 2009 Report Posted July 4, 2009 search search search.... saz-2000d would have my vote http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...showtopic=49142 i was thinking leave the 12 sitting in the box in the hole and duck tape from the bottom of the sub to the bottom of the baffle so the sub doesnt free air. would that work?
VistaV6 Posted July 4, 2009 Author Report Posted July 4, 2009 Alright, I have been browsing the internet and found this, http://soundstormlab.com/main/465 for $189 at sonic. That appeals to me because I was thinking about eventually getting two BTL's. Would it be a bad idea to try and use that amp with one BTL if I decided not to get a second one, or until I did anyway? In other words, would it be bad to run a BTL off an amp that has a higher RMS than the subs RMS? SUCCESS is a decision, NOT a dream. You have to name the price you are willing to pay to get it.
