Gregggg
I have a Kicker zx1000.1 amp powering 2 Type Rs and I was wondering do I set my LPF to 200Hz (the max LPF for the Kicker) since my Type Rs frequency response is 23-500 Hz? If not, how would I set it? brsteinbach
O alright I'll try that. Thanks man, just wondering why 80Hz? I think cause subs mainly don't play higher then that in a good ported box. Basshead08
Most sub stages are meant to cover the frequencies for 20hz(some times lower) up to 80hz. In most cases, somewhere around 80 is where your midbass should come in. Ben Building
In the absence of rattling or distortion it is hard for human ears to locate the source of sounds below 80hz. If your front-stage speakers are set up properly, then a 80hz lpf can sound as if the bass is coming from the front like the rest of the sound (think 'concert'). In actual practice, you can set the filter a little higher if you like (say 100hz), but you don't want to go much above that. Also, don't go below 80 too much because the LPF will begin eating into your good bass. Even though your subs can play a 500hz signal, they are optimized for much lower frequencies. Set the Low Pass Filter to 100 Hz then the amp will allow your sub to produce only 100 Hz and below that.) Correct me if I'm wrong though.
