for raw sanding I use 60 grit then smooth it out with 120 then 400. I also use norton 3x sandpaper, it seems to hold up better

K cool I'll look for it at home depot this afternoon...You think with 60grit I'll be fine if were going to lay Vinyl over it? Would I need to use filler and all that stuff or sanding should do the trick?

BTW that boat yard resin and mat is a piece of shit...I recommend everybody stay away from it. With regular bondo the next day it would be as hard as a rock...This boatyard shit was still half wet and I added more than enough hardner :R

it will show through with vinyl. you want the surface to be paintable smooth with vinyl. Once you knock it down with 60 taking the steps with 120 and 400 doesn't take that long but will look better. I would suggest the same steps in the port. I've never had a problem with fiberglass still being wet the next day.

I try. Did you knock that shit smooth in the port.  I'm guessing but that resin you bot may just need a hotter mixter of hardener. Did it start chunking up on you in the bucket while you were using it? If it did how long did it take? IF it didn't use more hardener.

i work at ace and have used that resin be4. ive never had a problem with it be4, and it always dried within about 3-4 hours. i live in fl so its nice and hot of course, but it shouldnt take that long to dry.
