I have never hooked up a system that required a new alternator before now, so I really need some help. I am not sure how to tell what kind of fuses (amperage rating) I need, or where all I need to put them. I also would like to know what amperage alternator I will need, taking into considering the normal amperage it takes to run a car. The system will be 1 run of 0 gauge on a 3k watt amp. BUT... for a 1/0 wire ill do 250amp fuse. one in front by the batt and one in back b4 the amp. for an alt, just go as big as you can now because one day you will need more power. look up bcae1.com it can answer these types of questions for you in detail. or just use the search button here. bobonit Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 If you are talking about fusing the 1/0 power wire that runs to the back of the car, 300amp fuse just before the front battery and 300amp just before the back battery. That is incase the cable gets pinched or shorted in anyway, it burns out the fuse and not your ride. Depending on your amp, you also may need a 300amp fuse between the amp and the rear battery. As an exampleMy SAZ-3000D recommends a 300amp fuse. 97 Maxima SE Bunch of shit going in, check out the build Build Log
