Optima vs Capacitor?

You said you installed your setup yourself right? You can do it, not any more difficult than that. The hardest part for me is getting the wire routed just where I want it. A little case of OCD kicks in. haha. There is a thread stickied here in the forum on how to do it.

So I guess I understand the concept of the thicker wire but i dont understand how the same amount of power cant go through 4 gauge. Also what should you use for a size of the subwoofer wires. I have some pretty small wires going from the subs to the amp.

and would there even be a point to doing the big 3 without upgrading from my 4 gauge power wire and ground wire?

Would prob help somewhat. Look to see what size the power wire is coming from your alt now.

Gonna go for now. keep us updated in what you decide to do.

aux tray from the Duramax Diesel and a XS power D3400

So am I shorting myself by having small wires going from the subs to the amp? i think it may be 16 gauge or maybe 12

12 g is sufficient 10guage is better . in my silverado Ive got a Napa Orbital in the main location then the XS Power in the Duramax tray 1/0g wire between the 2 .1 run of + one of negative. then 1 run of each back to distro blocks and that is 1/0g as well which powers 2 channels off of an SAX-100.4 at 4 ohms each and an orion 2500D at 2 ohms no big 3 so Im still with the small factory wireing for the ground and all under the hood and I barely get a drop and thats going by the same guage you are. the orion is rated at I believe 1700 watts at the load Im running at with impenence rise and this is just a guess Im probably seeing 1000 watts Id assume
