clampjaw25
can anyone recomend any subs or enclosures that get those 1 second, or maybe even less than 1 second bass notes, as loud as possible? the only way i can describe them are when a song goes bap bap bap i know it sounds stupid but thats my favorite type of bass. LSN2meBoom916
Go with smaller subs w/ really good transient response (ability to change direction quickly-i.e. go bap bap bap real quick). Try some 10's or 8's and just use a lot of them so you have lots of SD (surface area) to get loud. Also go w/ a smaller box per sub and it will sound punchier and more midbassy. sean 371
Hardcore/metal double bass is about the hardest thing for a sub to handle, and the best I've heard was a pair of Diamond D3 10's in a ported box in an ext cab ranger...The SQ on those subs was ridiculous. The whole truck was dynamatted too. I'd highly recommend them. A couple links to some box builds: Tahoe Box 1, Tahoe Box 2, Nissan Titan, VW GTI, Mini-Bump, Hummer H2, Ford F-150 My own car builds (current setup --- under construction): Overall Thread, Kickpods, Dash, Back Doors Subwoofer Wall

LSN2meBoom916
Definately. I'm sure I'm pretty BIASED in this particular case, but I have built/heard quite a few setups using all kinds/sizes of subs and I must say I am THOROUGHLY pleased w/ the SQ of my CVR12's in thier sealed box. They handle drumlines, intrumentals, and even that quick double bass like PRIMUS uses a lot of ("My name is Mudd" in particular=a great demo). I know I could get more spl out of them if i went w/ a ported setup but I like equal parts SQ/SPL...SQL i guess, and IMO my setup can handle anything you could throw at it. I have an epic-160 which actually makes the bass louder and adds very low sub bass to tracks that otherwise lack very low end material and I have had multiple people say it hits as if I had 15's. I have had 15's and I know how they tend to hit lower and sloppier than 12's and I love being able to "pick and choose" how it sounds via the epic 160. If you want really nice "quick bass" I'd say try the smaller sub/smaller box approach and just get an epic 160 so you can still have that ultra low rumble when you want it.
